Nottingham landlords against extension of local licensing scheme

Nottingham landlords are angered by the councils plans to extend licensing regulations for rented property.

Nottingham City Council has announced it would like to extend it's licensing program to include rental properties in the Arboretum, Radford, Lenton, Sneinton and Berridge wards.

The cost of licensing one property is £600, but is set to rise to £650.

Local landlord, Shad Ali, a city landlord said: "We are against the extension of the scheme. There are already rules around health and safety and the environment. The powers are adequate but they are not using them as well as they should."
