The British Property Federation are urging the Financial Services Authority to take on the regulation of the Buy-to-Let Mortgage sector.
Ian Fletcher, BPF director of policy, said there was a need for more regulation of the sector.
"Many lenders simply threw money at buy-to-let borrowers during the boom without sufficient checks on who they were lending to or what they were lending for," Fletcher said.
