Nottingham landlord ignores prohibition notice

A Nottingham landlord who ignored a notice from Nottingham City Council to stop letting out a rental property has been given a bill for £2,681 by Nottingham Magistrates Court.

The property, on Sneinton Boulevard was visited by council officers following a complaint by the tenant.

Council officers found the property to be in a seriously poor state of repair and to be breaking two Category One hazards - 'excessively cold' and an 'unsafe' stairway.

Following their visit, Nottingham Council issued Mr Mariano with a prohibition notice, stopping him from renting out the property until satisfactory improvements were made.

However, the court heard how Mr Mariano 'totally ignored the order' and continued renting out the property to new fresh tenants.
