1 in 3 landlords fail GSC

According to latest figures over a third of landlords are not meeting the gas safety regulations.

The survey of 1,036 tenants who had been living in their properties for more than a year found that 36% had out-of-date certificates, whilst 26% of tenants had never been given a gas safety certificate in the first place.

Landlords are legally required to have annual gas safety checks on their properties and to provide tenants with copies of the certificates. They must use engineers on the Gas Safe Register, the body that replaced CORGI a year ago.

The survey was carried out earlier this month by a flat share website, Spareroom.
