Any landlord old enough to remember the 70s advert for Unigate milk will remember the caption:

"watch out watch out there's a Humphrey about!"

It seems that landlords sometimes need to apply the same sentiments to their tenants according to the latest reports from Sunderland.

It appears that a tenant who was evicted by her landlord decided to get her own back by swiping the kitchen.

"Police were suspicious and carried out a search of the defendant's current house." said David Crook, prosecuting.

"They found kitchen drawers, doors and a bath panel taken from the previous property.

"Ms Stewart said she had been out and the items were in her garden when she returned."

The former tenant eventually confessed to the theft was sentenced to a 12 month community order.
