If you want to know how Gordon is going to fill his little budget black hole then it looks as if landlords are going to have to make their contribution.
Just as we suspected the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS) was not just about protecting the rights of tenants as the government were keen to convince everybody it was.
Really, it was as much about collecting a landlords information about tenancies and let properties so that it could pass the details on to the taxman in the guise of the HMRC.
Under the taxes management act of 1970 the HMRC can request the information from their 3 approved providers of Tenancy Deposit Schemes.
This begs the question whether the TDS was not really a Tenancy Deposit Scheme but really a Trojan Deposit Scheme for the taxman.

Exactly what I have though from day 1. Same as EPC IMO. Since doing EPC's on new lets about 20 in all now I have not had one tenant ask to see one.
