Many EPCs not worth the paper they are printed on..

Apparently many EPCs are not worth the paper they are printed on.

This is not us being contrarian. This is actually what the government have said about many of the EPCs they have seen.

EPCs have been a requirement of all landlords marketing a property to rent since 1st October 2008. We have always been clear that we think they are yet another piece of useless box ticking bureaucracy. How many of us have ever had a tenant ask to see the EPC on viewing a property to rent?

EPCs are not worth the paper they are written on

Well according to a recent Government report it is not just us that think that the reports are useless. It concludes that they are ‘strewn with schoolboy errors’ and ‘glaring omissions’, according to Communities and Local Government (CLG), in a warning to the accreditation schemes that are meant to police the regime.

CLG has accused the schemes of failing to catch unacceptable or invalid EPCs, and of allowing Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) to lodge reports when their membership has run out, or if they have been expelled from other accreditation schemes for disciplinary reasons.

Good job that nobody reads them.............apart of course for the bureaucrats that are paid to!

I for one would be very interested to see if there have been any prosecutions for non compliance with the EPC requirement.

As for your title, I would suggest a better one.
