HIPS are a failed Government idea that need to be scrapped

Gillian Charlesworth, RICS director of external affairs, said "It is clear that the HIP has failed to improve the consumer's experience of buying and selling homes."

Is there anything good to say about them?

Yes.

If absolutely nothing else, they ensure that a seller is serious and not merely punting a price and wasting everyones time!

Also RICS have profited from the process in the delivery of books, courses and conferences.

Were RICS also not involved in the consultation process and development of the system they now critisise?

Would the mandatory adoption of the HCR not have been in direct competition to the RICs 'Home Buyers Survey'?

Maybe the question should be...How impartial are RICS in forming this view?
