BTL huts by the sea

It looks like beach huts are the latest casualty in the Summer slump in housing sales.

In the boom times - a well located Dorset beach hut would sell over night for the price of a northern terrace house.

Apparently no more!

A third estate agent has been brought in by a Dorset council to sell designer beach huts, on the market for up to £89,995, after slow sales.

The retro-style "surf pods" in Boscombe's revamped Overstrand building went on sale in May 2009 from £64,995.

But only 12 of the 43 huts, designed by Wayne Hemingway, have been sold.

The surf pods are now available from £44,995. An interesting buy-to-let opportunity?

Expenses for the pods are estimated at around £1500 a year but peak season rentals could reach £250.

To be honest you can buy a studio flat in Boscombe for same amount of money AND you would be able to sleep in it (AND live there!!!!) (Admittedly it's not first on the sea shore though!)
