You must be mad to be a landlord

Yes, this statement is probably true.

Love Money journalist, Harvey Jones definately thinks so, giving prospective landlords seven valid reasons why they should avoid joining the landlord ranks.

I reflect on his arguments.
  1. Tenants from hell - " I've had plenty of those"
  2. There will be no future capital growth - " Probably correct in the medium term"
  3. Maintenance woes - " They do get you down"
  4. Lousy letting agents - " Some real stinkers out there"
  5. Pricey finance - " Yes, why is that lenders?"
  6. Red tape hell - " Gordon and his cronies scoring political brownie points "
  7. Easy street - " Cant argue that there are comparable returns out there "
Sobering thoughts, for 'all us nutters' out there.

Thanks for mentioning a lovemoney.com article again Property Hawk. Our Financial Director has also written about his expereinces of buy to let here: http://bit.ly/awsauf

It definately not for the faint hearted - but he is considering getting back into the UK market.

Maybe you can help him with his dilemma?
