Old property out performs - new research

Property Hawk has always advocated old school property investment techniques.

Buy older characterful property in established areas......avoid so called regeneration areas and hotspots.

Don't get drawn into buying flats in large blocks. Our good friend Fergus Wilson, advises that landlords should always buy houses not flats.

Some recent research goes some ways to bearing out this advice.

It found that by analysing the Halifax House Price Index over a 26 year period from 1983-2009 it was possible to identify which types of houses performed best.

It appears that best performing are established properties which attract first time buyers which should be good news for landlords such as myself who often target lower value property as a way of increasing their rental returns.
