I think you are right people should try and manage their own properties, this can be daunting for first time landlords but with a little practice and learning from your mistakes you will quickly make money from your property investment. Finding the right way to manage your properties is up to you.
I have investigated renting your own rental property the savings can be enourmous as your figures show. Often a letting agent does not add much value at all.
