New Planning Rules for HMO's Unstoppable

The Government is going to push on with new planning changes for HMO's regardless of protests by all the landlord bodies.

The changes aim to prevent the 'studentification' of certain city suburbs and can only be seen as a vote winner by the Government leading up to the election, because lets be honest, nobody likes a landlord.

Protest is futile, remember Government is king.

The minister announced -

“We are aiming to make the Order amending the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987, which will create the HMO use class, by 8 March 2010. This order does not need to be laid before Parliament.”

Of course it's stoppable. Don't provide HMO accommodation. Councils will then have to house benefit claimants in B&B's and hotels due to lack of housing. Just like they had to last time labour picked on landlords.

Then people will finally see what Emperor Browns new clothes really look like...
