One thing about air conditioning units though - if you get the proper survey done, (any good heating/cooling company will do one for free) the air conditioning unit you get is quite something. They do work incredibly well and for the money, it's well spent if you really can't get on with a fan or really need your room properly cool. For a standard loft conversion with a fair amount of glass, you're talking around £1000 supplied and fitted.
