Landlords food for thought?

Landlords who are looking at where to spend their money on improving their buy-to-let property may want to take note of the latest study by Rightmove.

This survey of more than 10,000 people indicates it's the kitchen that homeowners prioritise when spending to improve their property. It appears that the surge of popularity of programmes such as Come Dine with Me are encouraging owners to spend on dining in rather than going out for their entertainment. The research shows that 33% of improvement expenditure goes on the kitchen.

Should landlords take heed?

I'm with Sarah Beeney on this one. The kitchen is one room that an inexperienced developer landlord can spend a fortune without a great deal to show for it.

To cook up a good investment a landlord wants to keep it plain & simple and stick to strict budget.

I suggest a Swedish main course from IKEA, something like ADEL followed by a dime bar chaser if you are still hungry.

That's far more digestible a cost for most landlords & for most tenants will more than satisfy their culinary requirements!
