Shapps - new Housing Minister

Congratulations to Grant Shapps who was announced as the new Housing Minister.

Grant has already pledged to get rid of HIPs.
He has in the past voiced his dissatisfaction with the changes in the use classes order which has created the requirement for landlords to obtain planning permission where they let their buy-to-let property to 3 or more tenants.

Lets hope that this pre-election banter translates into concrete action to remove this ridiculously onerous and heavy handed bit of legislation.

Just a word of warning for Grant. If we look at the history of the Housing Ministers post under Labour there were 11 Ministers in 13 years. He might not want to get too comfortable. It seems that the post only comes with a short term tenancy & their is no security of tenure.
