Award for silliest award Award

It appears that we have entered the landlord award season again.

This is where spurious awards are lorded on individuals after being judged in dubious ways by organisations that may be a tad more interested in their own self publicity rather than any Olympic dream.

The National Landlords Association - the self proclaimed 'big beast' of landlord associations is promoting a set of awards for Lady Landlords. In the interest of political correctness they are not called Landladies but are women in property. There are even categories for green women under thirty or something like that.

I'm not sure I'd be too happy to receive the award for the 2010 Green Women in Property Under 30 category and I'm not sure how many entrants there would be but there you go.

If you are interested in the nominees you can have a look here.

If you do come across any more competitions for landlords to enter please let us know.

I'm great in the sack and have my egg and spoon polished and ready to go!

  1. So do you think these judges http://www.propertywomenawards.org.uk/judges.aspx (including two national journalists and well respected industry figures) would allow the NLA Property Women Awards to be judged in a 'dubious' way?

  2. Hi Ellie, dubious may not have been the right word. But I'm not sure how strict the criteria is. You may know more..I know one thing for sure that there are a lot of very successful female landlords out there but I'm not sure they necessarily need a medal to prove this. Surely in this post modern age it's a bit patronising to have an award patting women on the head for getting involved in property. An apparent 'male domain'.

  4. Is this feminism in action or men exploiting women to self promote their organisation?
