Get your property on Rightmove for LESS
After my warning this week over using the free letting website Gumtree most landlords realise to give themselves the best chance of letting their property quickly and to quality tenants they need to get it listed on Rightmove.
There are now a number of websites that allow landlords to get their property listed without using the full services of a local letting agent. These include the likes of : UPAD, Landlord Direct and Letting A Property. The functionality of all these services have improved massively over the last few years and now it means that landlords can get their properties listed on Rightmove, with photos and description in minutes rather than hours and all for less than a hundred quid.
The guys at Letting A Property have very kindly given all Property Hawk users a £20 discount off their usual fees. So feel free to try to let your property by trying one of the free letting websites. But if you want to get your property let quickly you really do need to get it on Rightmove.

Rightmove - new search tool

Draw-a-Search allows a landlord to sketch out and define their own area of search on a map and perform property searches in that specific location.
Miles Shipside, commercial director of Rightmove, said: “Home hunters often have a very specific search area in mind that does not neatly fit in a postcode area or a radius of a town.
“Using Draw-a-Search they can now specifically define that area to fully customise and fine-tune their property search process. It’s great news for Rightmove member agents that we have introduced another ground-breaking feature to impress their potential sellers and landlords.”
I've just used it straight away without even viewing the tutorial video. It's dead easy, click and draw and then save the area. You can view the properties meeting your defined search criteria within the area you create.
I'm glad to see that Rightmove are using some of their huge profits to invest in their functionality. For use it was the biggest but like Microsoft it certainly wasn't the best technology wise.

Fancy being lord of the manor?
As I am sure most of you do I get regular newsletters from Rightmove and generally I have to admit they just go straight into my SPAM box. However this particular article tickled my fancy and I just had to draw it to your attention.
The village of Linkenholt is for sale - yes the whole village! All the land, 21 houses, a manor house, 2 blacksmiths and a shop. Sadly the 12th century church of St Peters is not included in the price which is a cool £25 million.
Now I haven't run the figures to see whether this represents a good investment or not but it is certainly an unusual opportunity :)
