Once again the Government sees fit to hammer private landlords whilst failing to build adequate housing stock or put their own rented section in order.
ReplyDeleteIts a disgrace that private landlords are subjected to reams of legislation that local authorities do not have to comply with.
But of course its really easy for the Government to enact new rules for others.
They hate private landlords and always have.
Lots of us are selling up as its just not worth it if you have an older property as a HMO.
My view is that particularly in University towns its a scam by the Government and the Universities to obtain total control of the student accommodating at their inflated rents. Southampton is doing just this. Bringing in masses of legislation that require expensive property alterations. At the same time, building masses of high price student accommodation. Private landlords sell up and Universities pick up the slack. Its a policy to keep all the students in their own accommodation and increase their profits for their overpaid staff.
