Pre-Burnham - Manchester cue up landlord licensing

Manchester City Council are looking to re-introduce ‘selective licensing schemes’ in specific areas.

The council is considering an initial pilot area of Crumpshall.

A consultation to hear views from local residents and landlords in the Crumpshall area has a closing date for responses of Monday 31 October 2016.

Manchester City Council previous attempt at a landlord licensing scheme was not renewed, but this time around council officials believe that things will be different, stating any landlord licensing will be more focused on 'improving conditions' for tenants.

Andy Burnham has already pledged a clean up of Manchester's Private Rented Sector including the introduction of a landlord licensing scheme covering all of Greater Manchester if he gets elected as the city's mayor in May 2017.
