18% of landlords not covered
According to Direct Line, 18% of landlords do not have the specialist landlord insurance required for their rental property, instead rely on a standard home insurance policy which leaves them without cover if any problems do arise.
All very well for this to come from Direct Line, but Direct Line have so many catch terms in their Landlord policies that careful landlords might not find themselves covered anyway.
I recently letted to a very mature adult (age 50) who at some point during their tenancy registered to do a PhD. Direct Line cover was void. talk about a complete disconnect between risk factors and actual risk in the minds of the actuaries who do this stuff.
