Residential property investors who claim that nobody was warning us that we were in a house price bubble perhaps conveniently had been ignoring some of the warnings.
One of the respected academics who was warning back in 2004 that the UK was entering bubble territory was Andrew Farlow a research fellow at Oriel College, Oxford.
His two part study into UK housing convinced me that the UK was on the rocky road to a housing bubble and the inevitable economic bust. I'm sure not many people at the time were paying any attention. If they did, people were too busy making money and the politicians spending it to care. A bit galling for old Andrew. Mind you now he can at least have the pleasure of saying "I told you so!"
