Google get go ahead from OFT

The consumer watchdog today recommended relaxing rules for new entrants such as Google and Tesco to offer rival property search websites that will compete with traditional estate agents.

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) said that allowing new companies to set up search portals regulation-free would "shake up" the traditional estate agency model, resulting in better choice and lower prices.

  1. Google property search is in Oz, USA, UK , and soon Europe, they have invested in Street View, Mapping, and command property searches. When the switch is finally flung open one might imagine them as the post powerful property search in the world....seems reasonable.

    There are now free sites preparing to tap into this new property powerhouse, Landlord Direct are introducing a free advertising service for private landlords and there already sites like Sarah Beeny Tepilo, although lets face it the large online letting agents like Landlord Direct are likely to take over this role as the market hots up.
