56% of landlords planning on raising rent

More than half of landlords are planning to raise rents in the coming 12 months.

According to data from the Residential Landlords Association survey, 56% landlords are planning to increase rents during the course of the coming 12 months.

The RLA believe rent increases will be result as the bi-product of the additional costs incurred when the changes to mortgage interest relief come into play.

Other figures from the survey showed that 86% of landlords reported they had a good relationship with their tenant, and 82% reporting that their tenants pay their rent on time.

According to the survey,  the average tenancy period is now three years.
