Most of the landlords in my area are Asians, who own portfolio's of many properties, remain absent and let the properties to any old rag-tags, as long as the council housing benefit still flows. They are very reluctant to spend a penny on repairs, and if the tenant plays up, they are soon thrown out, as there are many other immigrants to take their place. I know, I live amongst it, and own 1 property only with an excellent tenant, whom I look after.
