Rat infested HMO fine of £29,000

A  Nottingham property management business has been fined £29,000 for a rat infested House in Multiple Occupation.

When Council officers visited the property following reports of a rat infestation they discovered the property to be in a poor state of repair - with no working fire alarms or working fire doors .

Nottingham Magistrates fined the property management business, Nottingham HMO Ltd  ran by a Mr Nazaquat Azam  £19,000 for failing to comply with regulations under the Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (England) Regulations 2006, alongside a fine of £10,000 for ignoring a notice requesting information under Section 16 of the Local Government Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1976. Nottingham HMO Ltd was also ordered to pay court costs of £1,450.
