Darlington landlord fined £32,070

A Darlington landlord has landed himself a fine of £32,070.
Landlord, Mizan Abdin pleaded guilty to 17 counts of failing to comply with regulations for a House in Multiple Occupation, alongside not having the required HMO licence in place.

The HMO property was described as 'appallingly dangerous' by Darlington Borough Council, with one bedroom recorded as having a ceiling height of less than four feet.

The rental property had unsafe electrics, no Gas Safety Certification, numerous failings with its health and safety precautions, including a lack of fire alarms and fire doors,  damaged waste pipes ..... (you get the drift. )

The 27 year old landlord pleaded guilty by post.

Neighbours described the property as having a 'regular rotation' of 'always male, always foreign' tenants'.

Kick me, I'm a landlord, and I deserve it!
