Halifax report property price rises

Halifax have reported another rise in property prices. Values have recorded a rise of 3.7 percent in the three months leading to June.

The Halifax data records the average house price in Britain is now £167,984. This is a climb of £8,671 in the past eight months.

Halifax's housing economist, Martin Ellis, commented  "Improved confidence in both the housing market and the economy, combined with a shortage of properties available for sale, appear to be pushing up house prices."
