Census warning for landlords

Landlords with an empty property shouldn't forget that they need to fill in a census form for the property on Sunday 27th March.

This is a legal requirement.

The property owner needs to fill in the form - either the paper version or online - for any unoccupied rented property.

The sections that need to be completed are:
H1                    (tick the last box in the list)
H4                    (tick the last box in the list)
H7 to H11

No-one staying on census night
If you are not intending to stay at the address within six months, the questionnaire does not have to be completed. It will be counted as a vacant or empty property. Census field staff will confirm this by visiting the property. You do not need to contact us.

My 3 apartments are let to an agent as 'serviced apartments'. An officer from the council is coming to fill in the census forms for us because they are classed as hotel rooms and not private houses. Seems odd to me but that's what they said.
