London popular with investors

London is proving to be particularly popular with overseas landlords according to latest reports.

Approximately 55% of all sales and purchases of London-area properties involved foreign landlords and investors, according to Savills the up market estate agent.

This is at near record levels. At the height of the boom in 2007 an equivalent figure was just under half (45%) of all transactions were initiated by foreign investors.

Reasons for the strong interest in London properties are the low level of the pound compared to other currencies. low interest rates and also the perceived low level of risk in investing in property in the capital.
