Landlord licence will change nothing

The real reason for the governments proposal for landlord licensing is not to protect tenants.

The more truthful reasons Gordon Brown is attracted to the idea -

1, Looks good politically ( look at me looking after tenants - vote for me - no doubt in reality it will change nothing but as we all know Gordon loves numbers - there is already law governing tenant harassment and tenants are already legally allowed to withhold rent if they feel a landlord hasn't fulfilled their duties )

2, Database of landlords will help with monitoring tax liabilities.

3, Increase state sector - ( it can't cost enough in my eyes - one day I want everyone to work for the state )

More on the landlord licence proposal in the Times.

If Gordon has his way I will have to carry a bundle of ID papers with me, ID papers, landlord papers, driving licence.

Your papers comrade.
